Why do I care what people wear? Well, I actually don’t care what most people wear. I believe people should be able to wear whatever they want without being judged for their taste, style or decisions.

Having said that, I’ve always been drawn to well-dressed and well-groomed people, men and women. To me, when someone has obviously put extra time into their attire, they immediately become more interesting. If makes you want to hear what they have to say, you want to know what they do for a living, where they are from, etc.

Confidence

As I’ve gotten older, I realize that that magnetic “thing” that well-dressed people have is called confidence. I don’t know the science behind it, but when someone feels good about themselves it translates to success in other areas of their lives.

Think about your job. In most industries, the higher you go or look up the corporate ladder, you’ll notice that the salaries and clothing choices usually go hand in hand. If you’re of a particular age, you’ve probably noticed that individuals that dressed ahead of their pay grade early in their careers, probably moved up the ladder a little faster.

The reason I believe upper level managers dress better is because they understand that it gives them confidence and inadvertently makes others respect them more.

The same holds true for employees and lower level managers. Regardless of your positions within an organization, if you present yourself well (more attention to fashion grooming) you’re going to put yourself in the better position for advancements in your career.

Conclusion

No, I usually don’t care about what people wear but I do care about the people that dress well. The issue for most people that want to dress well is the price. Fortunately, we have the internet and sites like Poshmark for people that have high fashion aspirations, but their bank accounts haven’t quite caught up yet. Even if you can afford to pay high end prices, who doesn’t like a good deal?

You can find some good deals on some really unique pieces on the internet. Most women are already onboard with shopping online for clothes. Most of us men are little hesitant to buy clothes online for whatever reason.

If I can offer a tip, make sure you know your measurements or stick to designers that fit you well. Just because a pair of jeans from one brand has the same size as your favorite pair, doesn’t mean the jeans will fit the same.

The cool thing about shopping on sites like Poshmark is that many sellers will put the approximate measurements in the description. This is to ensure that the fit is exactly what you’re looking for.

At Above Average Men, we’re always adding new pieces to our inventory. Make sure you pay us a visit at https://bit.ly/2N87f76
