What is the key to elevating? How do we get to the next stage in life? Think back to when you were a child, your imagination ran wild, you had tons of dreams and always talked about what you were going to do when you grew up.
At a certain point, most people begin to settle. But there is a small percentage of the population that continues to push and fight for what they want.
What do they know that others don’t? How were they able to keep elevating?
Patience
Elevation, change, growth, etc., it all takes time. One of the most important things we can develop is patience. When you make up your mind to make a major shift in your life, it can be frustrating when you find out how much time it may take or how difficult it may be. The goal is to take everything one day at a time.
Comparisons
Let’s say your goal is to lose 20lbs. You join one of those fancy gyms because they have the latest equipment, and you believe you need that to get in shape. You buy some new workout clothes; protein powder and you are ready to go.
Everything is good until you get in the gym and see dozens of other people that are already in shape. Your confidence drops, your desire to workout diminishes and before you know it, you are paying for a membership that you aren’t using.
Everyone that has ever done this had good intentions when they started but couldn’t resist the urge to compare themselves to everyone else. Theodore Roosevelt once said that “Comparison is the thief of joy”.
Win the Day
Many of the world’s most successful people rave about the importance of sticking to a daily schedule and having consistent routines. Search the term ‘Morning Routine’ and you will find hundreds of results.
The issue that many people run into is only focusing on the end goal. They don’t consider the nuances of the daily grind and never work on making small daily improvements.
If you have lofty goals, the beginning stages can be intimidating. So, break your goals up. Though the big goal is what you are shooting for, set daily goals. Daily goals will help you see where you need to tweak what you are doing and keeps you accountable as you move forward.
Conclusion
Remember these three things on your way to the top.
- Be patient
- Don’t compare yourself to others
- Win the day
